Research

Dr. Abuaish’s research interest is examining early-life environmental factors effects in shaping the health outcomes of individuals with specific focus on psychoneuroendocrinology in the context of Developmental Origin of Health and Disease (DOHaD). She answers her research questions in human and in animal models using integrative approaches of studying several biological systems from behaviour and physiology to molecular changes in gene expression and the epigenome to understand health and disease outcomes.

Some early-life factors she studies include:
– Maternal Obesity
– Maternal Distress
– Breastfeeding
– Rodent Model of Obesity, Stress, and Autism
